Our RLR Special Alloy Spiders are a perfect match for 10 1/2″ and 10 9/16″ resophonic cones. They can be used in new builds, or as a fine replacement for a collapsed, damaged, or poorly cast spider. Here’s a bit of history on the development of this product.
We “reverse-engineered” the size and shape of an original #14 spider to start things off. We then made a moldable pattern by “rapid-prototyping” it to this configuration. Then we spent about six months experimenting with various alloy blends, until we came up with a clear winner. We use our RLR Spiders almost exclusively in our RedLine Resophonic guitars. Other builders and end-users are using them as well, all with favorable results.
These RLR Spiders are made in the USA, and say so on each part. We precision machine the bridge insert slot, drill the center hole, add a bit of an arch or crown to each one, and then make sure that all 8 legs are perfectly level.
